Mission Statement

"Are you sure you don't need me to go with you to the airport?"  Andy questioned as Jessica was preparing to walk out of his hotel room, luggage in hand.

"Positive.  It would just be another way for the paprazzi to photograph us together."

"You're probably right."

"I always am."  she smiled as she embraced him in a warm hug.  "Thank you SO much for everything this week."  she said as she rubbed her hand up and down his back.

"It was no problem" he smiled.  "Thanks for agreeing to room with me.  I had a lot of fun this week."

"Me too..." she trailed off.

"So, I'll see you two weeks from tomorrow then?"

"Yep."

"When are you going to be getting back to the city?"

"A few days.  I gotta be here to sign for all our new furniture."

"Ok, well, if you need anything before I get back, here's my cell number, and my parents number where I'll be staying at."

"Thanks."  she said as she took the card that he was holding out for her.

"Alright...well, have a safe flight.  And good luck in LA."

"You know, I'm really surprised taht Mandy hasn't called me about this whole thing yet.  Maybe she doesn't even know about it?"

"She hasn't called you yet!?!"

"Nope.  Why does that surprise you so much?"

"Well, the other morning when you were out shopping for furniture she stopped by here.  She'd been on a plane all night.  Apparently, one of our photographer friends sent the pictures of us to your apartment."

"How mad was she?"

"Extremely at me...not at all at you."

"And you told her...?"

"Everything.  About us moving in together, about me trying to kiss you.  Everything.  She said that she knew you were a good friend who wouldn't let anything happen between us."

"Wow...I wish you would have told me all of that a little sooner...but I've gotta get going or I'm gonna end up missing my flight."  she said as she kissed his cheek and ran out the door.  There were a few photographers outside the hotel waiting, but as soon as they realized that she was carrying luggage and that Andy was nowhere in sight they left her alone.  She hailed the first cab she spotted and headed for LaGuardia.  As soon as she arrived and checked in, she was informed that due to poor weather conditions just west of the city, her plance was currently delayed.  Preparing for a long wait, she went to Starbucks where she ordered a Venti Caramel Macchiato.  She sat down at a tiny table in the corner where she pulled out a copy of the script of her latest movie from her backpack.  Just as she was getting thoroughly engrossed in it, her cell hone began to ring.  She looked at the display screen and saw that it was Mandy calling.  She quickly flicked it open.

"Hey!"  she said, trying to sound as upbeat as possible.

"Hey!  Where are you?"

"Uh, the Starbucks at LaGuardia.  My flights on rain delay."

"Yuck.  Should I wait up for you?"

"Probably.  It's just a little rain."

"Cool.  I'm just doing some packing around here...I hear you're going to be doing the same."

"Mands...I just wanted to let you know that..."

"Stop.  Don't worry about it!  I'm fine with everything.  I've moved on from Andy awhile ago now.  I'm really happy with my life right now, and I want Andy to be happy too.  If something ends up happening between you and Andy...so be it.  That's how it was meant to happen."

"Are you sure you're alright with us living together?"

"Definitely.  Whatever happens, happens.  Sure, I would have liked to have heard about everything from you guys instead of from a bunch of pictures mailed to our house...but that's all in the past as far as I'm concerned."

"I love ya so much!  You know that I'd never let a guy come inbetween our friendship."

"I know."  Mandy responded as it was announced that Jessica's flight was now boarding.

"Alright, well, my plane's boarding.  I'll see ya in a couple of hours."

"Ok.  Bye."  she said as they both hung up.

"Several hours later, Jessica arrived at the door to her apartment that she shared with Mandy.  She stuck her key in the door, but before she could get the door open herself, Mand was there ready to embrace her in a hug.

"Welcome home!"  Mandy smiled broadly.

"Thanks."  she responded as she walked into the front hallway which was lined on both sides by cardboard moving boxes.  She walked into the living room, whicn now only contained a solitary reclining chair, the television which was now residing on the wood floor, and several candles, picture frames and knick knacks that belonged to Jessica.  "Wow...its so empty."  Jessica cried out.  "I'm gonna miss this place..."

"I know.  I've pretty much got everything set.  Except for your room.  I figured you'd want to do that by yourself."

"No...I'd love for us to do it together."  she said as she stepped into her bedroom.  It looked exactly the same as the room of any other 21 year old woman would look.  There were pictures of her and her friends covering her bulletin board, a computer which rarely got used in the corner, mountains of clothes, CDs and magazines scattered all over the floor and draped over the furniture and a large bed with several throw pillows stacked on it.

"I'll go grab some boxes."  Mand said as she left Jessica alone.  She stood in the middle of the room that she had called home for the past three years and looked around.  She laughed as she spotted a picture hanging on her bulletin board.  It was taken right after Andy had won the U.S. Open.

"Uh...that picture!"  Mandy laughed as she looked at it with Jessica.  It was one of Andy standing in between both Jessica and Mandy, looking totally disgusting.  "I remember, he was just dripping with sweat and he smelled SO awful."

"But you were so proud of him..."

"So were you.  You know, as freaky as it sounds to say this, I always thought that you and Andy would have made a cute couple."

"ME and Andy???"  Jessica asked, puzzled.

"Yes, you and Andy.  You two just seemed to be so suited for eachother."

"Haha...I don't think so..."

"You are though."

"Maybe in a best friends sort of way, that's for sure.  I mean, we always got along great and everything whenever we saw eachother.  But I never felt any sort of attraction towards him."  Jessica admitted as she began piling pictures in a box.

"I don't know, I just have this weird feeling that somethings going to happen with you two."

"Ha!  I don't think so..."

"Well, I guess we'll see."  Mandy smiled.
